24 hours of horror, as selected by me

Noon to 2 PM: The Thing
Start with a strong one. Great plot, and the special effects are fantastic, more than 25 years later.
2 PM to 4 PM: Seven
Slightly more realistic, but no less disturbing. Fantastic final scene.
4 PM to 5:30 PM: The Blair Witch Project
You'll want this one early on, it's not high energy enough for later on. Still fantastic though.
5:30 PM to 7:30 PM: 28 Days Later
One of two offbeat British zombie movies I've selected. This one is serious. Seriously awesome.
7:30 PM to 9:30 PM: Psycho
Despite the twists being so well known, it's still astonishingly tense.
9:30 PM to 11:30 PM: Scream
Lighten things up a little. Great meta-slasher movie.
11:30 PM to 1:30 AM: The Exorcist
This will horrify all the Catholics, but make everyone else laugh.
1:30 AM to 4 AM: The Shining
Everyone, regardless of faith, should lose sleep over this one.
4 AM to 5:30 AM: Evil Dead 2
At this hour, and after the last two, you'll want to up the energy level. None better for it than Evil Dead 2.
5:30 AM to 7 AM: A Nightmare on Elm Street
A little surreal, which works when you've been awake this long.
7 AM to 9 AM: The Passion of the Christ
It's basically a horror movie anyways.
9 AM to 10:30 AM: Shaun of the Dead
The second Brit zombie flick. This one is horror-comedy, it'll wake you up.
10:30 AM to 12 PM: Halloween
The original, and best slasher movie. And a great film to close on.

* LMFAO: I'm still stunned you're a real band, and not an SNL skit.

* The Strokes: If the new album isn't good, don't even bother.
* MGMT: You're lucky the World Cup was this year, otherwise there'd be no question about who was responsible for the biggest flop.

Bourbons I have known (and short descriptions)

* Wild Turkey - Not bad. Will always do in a pinch, though never my first choice.
* Wild Turkey 101 - Better than the standard 80 proof, but much more dangerous.
* Maker's Mark - Wildly overrated. Not worth the price, though the bottle is cool.
* Jim Beam - The gold standard. In most cases, this is my go-to bourbon.
* Jim Beam Black - Only a little stronger, and not really better than the standard Beam. Not worth the price increase over the regular stuff.
* Bulleit - The best sipping bourbon I've ever had. Highly recommended.
* Rebel Yell - A better mix with Coke than Beam. Harder to find and slightly more expensive though. And yes, the namesake of the Billy Idol song.
* Knob Creek - Expensive, but good. Not the best I've ever had, but still high quality.

Advice on making mix-CDs/playlists

* Themed mixes are good, but don't force the theme. Not every song on the mix has to be about unrequited love or Antebellum-era Louisiana (just as examples).
* Find a rousing, relatively well-known song to start the mix.
* Maintain the tempo with the second song.
* Slow down the tempo after the initial few songs, then increase, then slow again in the final stretch of songs.
* Never include more than one song by the same artist. Side and solo projects are acceptable, however (eg: having both "Hey Jude" and "Band on the Run" is alright).
* Always include a song by one of the following in unthemed mixes: Michael Jackson, Pink Floyd or Elton John
* Have a good variety of songs the listeners will recognize mixed in with songs they may not know but would probably like.
* Don't be afraid to include multiple ballads, but do not go overboard with them.
* B-sides and covers are essential, but again, don't go overboard.
* Under no circumstances should you include "Don't Stop Believing." That song is awful.
