Albums that are almost perfect, but miss the mark ever-so-slightly

  • Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not ("Perhaps Vampires Is a Bit Strong But..." is about twice as long as it should be)
  • Crime in Stereo - Is Dead (the second half of the album gets a little diffuse at times)
  • Elvis Costello and the Attractions - Armed Forces (just a hair too poppy)
  • The Replacements - Pleased to Meet Me (the sequencing is questionable at times)
  • Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers - Damn the Torpedoes (half the songs are outstanding, half are merely very good)
  • Simon and Garfunkel - Bridge Over Troubled Water ("Why Don't You Write Me" is filler)
  • The Clash - London Calling (the back half - "Four Horsemen" is a noticeable offender - is weaker than the front half)
  • The Rolling Stones - Tattoo You ("Slave" kills the pace of side one)
